WPeC 3.8.11.1 – We’ve Fixed Your Stuff

Our sincerest apologies, first and foremost – for breaking your sites.  Thousands of you download our latest release the day it comes out and we recognize the amount of trust you place in us to deliver a product that keeps on growing and getting better with every passing release.  Our last several releases have been quite uneventful, which is a great thing. But this latest release had such a significant amount of changes in it (all for better, more streamlined code to serve you well into the future) that our extensive testing process simply missed a few issues.  Here are the issues we have fixed in the latest release, WPeC 3.8.11.1

* Fix: Some users had theme compatibilities and other configurations that caused “Add to Cart” to no longer function as expected.
* Fix: Customer uploads for products broke with JS overhaul
* Fix: Product image links broke.

While I’m incredibly disappointed that I shipped code that had quite severe bugs – which slipped through the QA cracks – I’m incredibly proud of our users and community for pulling together with great bug reports and other developers (Tom Ransom, specifically) for providing helpful patches for some of the bugs.  Because of them (and because of you, and to be honest, a whole lot of coffee for me) – we were able to ship a hotfix within 13 hours of the previous release.  That’s pretty cool.

Of course, even with this release – we highly recommend testing on a staging site first.  Use BackupBuddy, use VaultPress, use WPEngine – use something that allows you to backup your site.  After you do that, go download WPeC and enjoy!  It’s now the best version ever and we’re excited for the next release.

Thanks again for being the best user base and community out there.  As always, please report any bugs you find in the comments, on GitHub, or in the WordPress.org forums

Help! My Add to Cart function is still not working. I’ve been trying to fix for over 8 hours now and I’m exhausted. Have updated to 3.8.11.1 and still not working! It’s a disaster for my client can you please help? Thanks, Jane

I have the same problem- when you click “Add to Cart” it just shows the spinning wheel and says “Updating Cart”….forever.

I just now updated to Version 3.8.11 from Version 3.8.10

Please help, please!

I have tried premium support, forum, I never get a response. Have downloaded and installed newest versions of WP ecommerce and gold cart. Still can’t make sales from this site.

Please help

Since version 3.8.11.1 seems to have been removed from wordpress.org and there are no instructions on how to go back to 3.8.10 it seems that Getshopped want us to switch to another web shop.

Hey i have a issue with the add_to_cart function like alot other users after clicking the button the load wheel stay there forever.
I need fix that in two sites.

Thanks for help.

Hi Jane,

On the many sites I’ve worked on upgrading today, the changes released in 3.8.11.1 did indeed fix it – so sorry to hear it’s not working for you! Please, shoot me an email at justinsainton@gmail.com and I’ll see what the issue might be. In the meantime, I’d suggest reverting the site to 3.8.10.

the problem is back with the images not working. instead of it going to /array its going to /h.

Further on from my previous comment, I have discovered the main product image is going to /h instead of .jpg

This is only the case when the site is viewed through https:

When it’s viewed http: is works fine.

Just wondering how this can be fixed.

Hi Daniel,

Can you post your website so I can take a look? Alternatively, if you’d like to email your WP/FTP admin credentials to justinsainton@gmail.com, that could be very helpful.

Thanks!

I am having the exact same problem as daniel since upgrading.

Just as daniel said, the main product image is going to /h instead of the url for the image. This only occurs when the site is viewed through https:// and is fine when viewed http://

I am wondering if there is a fix to this problem?

I tried to comment on the message board, but no one has replied yet.

I’ve got the store working and processing payments properly, but the link to download the file never shows up. It’s not in the email, it’s not in the page after the payment goes through.

Please help! My boss is confused and livid.

Hi Miki,

Sounds like this is quite mission-critical – I’d suggest reverting to the last version you had loaded and then loading the newest version on a test site that we can help you debug. This is the first I’ve heard of this issue.

I just ran a test transaction on my sandbox and it worked well. I was using the Test Gateway, so I had to transition the purchase status from “Order Received” to “Accepted Payment”, and that triggered the email with the download link.

This version conflict with plugin TheThe Image Slider. Slider can’t work on my sites with WP eCommerce plugin

Sorry to hear that, Sergei!

If you can elaborate on what the actual conflicts are, we can try and see if there is something we can or should be doing in core to mitigate that – there’s also the very real possibility that the issue lies with the slider plugin you’re using.

The problem occurred after upgrade to this version of plugin. I can give you access to my site, if it’s can help to eliminate the problem. I can’t elaborate where the problem. But if I disable WP eCommerce plugin, Slider begins work normally.

Sadly I seem to be unable to get any item added to the shopping cart. Whenever a user hits the add to cart button the spinning icon appears and nothing further happens.

Hi Robert!

You reached out to me via email and we got you sorted out. For anyone still experiencing this (it is, by the way, an edge case where the admin-ajax.php file is on a different domain or more secure scheme than the front-end) – it is fixed in the latest commits on GitHub.)

Yes thanks Justin. However, all my code is on one server in a single tree using apache. I wonder if it might be a suhosin issue ? I did check all my files permissions although not my session directory / files permissions.

There are still two bugs I am experiencing.

The first is when removing an item from the cart by clicking on the remove button I then get a blank page. The URL in the address bar is correct because if I put the cursor in the address bar and hit enter it returns correctly to the checkout page. This is happening with two different themes (graphene http://www.hboxhockey.com and SPs mio http://www.era-enterprises.com/).

The other problem seems only to be on the mio theme where adding a product to the cart doesn’t update the mio cart widget in the header area – top right on the ERA Enterprises web site.

I will look into this more tomorrow.

Hi. Thanks for the 3.8.11.1 fix. But for some reason now, whenever someone goes through to the checkout, it starts overloading the server CPU with multiple MySQL processes. Anyone else experience this?

Hello,

On the sales log page, if I change an order status to paid, nothing happens, does not change the order status, and does not send email to the customer.

Hi Tomi76,

I’m not experiencing this myself – if you’d like to email admin credentials, I’d be happy to take a look.

hey justin,
we did the 3.8.11.1 update, but when customers add product(s) to their cart, the product is added, BUT the Shopping Cart icon in top-right corner of our website always displays “0 items” (even tho item does get added into cart) …..and the “# Items” icon wont update until a customer navigates to a different page on our website.

Not totally sure, but seems like a few other user comments echoed the same or similar issue. Any upcoming fix for that?

thanks!
steve

Hi Steve,

I’ve received a few reports of this – but most of these people are saying that there have been theme updates that have fixed the issue – so it’s usually been a matter of the theme doing something wrong.

That said, if you’d like to email me your admin credentials, I’d be happy to take a look.

Hello,

when I upgraded from WP Ecommerce 3.8.10 to 3.8.11 I received the following warning:

You are currently using WPeC 3.8.11. We have included a fix for a bug on the User Account management page. We are able to fix this automatically on most sites, but it appears that you have made changes to your wpsc-user-log.php page. For that reason, we have some simple instructions for you to follow to resolve the issue. We are sorry for the inconvenience.

I don’t understand what I have to do o fix this issue and was wondering if you can help me please?

Kind regards,
Stephanie

Hi Stephanie,

There is a link to documentation with explicit instructions on how to resolve the user-log issue.

Kudos on a pretty much flawless upgrade that fixed a lot of long-standing, annoying issues … especially around shipping and analytics. For that, my heart sings.

There does seem to be a bug in the coupon piece however. Previously when we set people up with percentage discounts, it applied to their entire order. Tonight we discovered (thanks to an astute user) that post-upgrade, you literally have to go in and check the “Apply To Each Individual Item” selection in the coupon module to make sure that their entire order gets the proper discount. We have over 10 pages of people who have been issued individual promo codes as part of a pro program that are now broken, so going in and revising each of them to have this option selected is a major pain in the @ass.

Is there a fix in the works, or at least an easier way to fix these accounts without individually opening each coupon code and checking the box.

Also, should publish this as a known issue … since it surprised us. Worked prior to the upgrade just fine, and then broke for multiple item orders after the upgrade.

Thanks —
matt

Hi matt,

How frustrating! We did make some changes here and we obviously missed this in our test coverage of this functionality. We’ll test this for 3.8.12 and make sure it’s functioning as expected. Until then, if this is mission critical for your business, I’d suggest reverting to WPeC 3.8.10

Matt, I have been working with Justin in looking at the coupon issue. There was a logic change (back in version 3.8.8 -> 3.8.9) that fixed an inconsistency in the logic around Apply to All products (and No Conditions) and Percentage discount. In 3.8.8 and earlier, a percentage discount was applied to all items in the cart regardless of the setting of Apply to All.

In 3.8.9 the code was updated to honor the Apply to All setting. In today’s code, the logic is now consistent with the settings. I have recommended to Justin that we not change it.

However, I recognize that this is quite burdensome for your situation. We can apply a database “fix” that will turn on the “Apply to All” switch for your affected coupons. I will happily help you with that process. You can contact me transom [at] 1bigidea [dot] com and I’ll work with you at no charge to fix your database.

I have tried for two days now to make a small wp e-commerce shop. But when I use the purchase button, I am landing on a totally blank page which has the same url as the check out page? I have tried to download the wp e-commerce to another website but that was exactly the same. I can see above that I am not the only one with that problem. Please help – I am in lack of time now. What to do??
it is http://www.sos-cykelsti.dk

Hi Lene,

I’m not seeing any products at all on your products page, so I am unfortunately unable to test.

Hi Justin, sorry the product was “private”, it is now public so you can see it. If you need password I can send it to you. Would be very grateful if you can help

Hi Justin, I’m working on the 3.8.11.1 upgrade and now my coupons’ conditions don’t work. I have not customized any coupon functionality, but my coupons are now applying to all products I’ve tested rather than just the ones where item name contains a particular string, as before.

Hi,

I know that must be super frustrating! It’s frustrating for me, and it’s not even my store.

I’ve marked this as one of the highest priority issues for the 3.8.12 release, we’ll make sure the the functionality is properly restored for that release. You can track the issue here – https://github.com/wp-e-commerce/WP-e-Commerce/issues/424

Until then, if this is a mission-critical issue for your store, I’d recommend reverting to 3.8.10.

GAskygirl, I am working with Justin on the coupon issues. I am unable to recreate your problem as described. Can you please contact me at transom [at] 1bigidea [dot] com

I would like to get more information so that we can get this resolved for you.

– Tom

I am also seeing purchase receipt emails going to the admin address, but not the customer. I noticed this when working on 3.8.10 and was just about to look at it when 3.8.11 and 3.8.11.1 came out. I was hoping they would fix the issue, but no joy.

Can you email me at justinsainton@gmail.com? We get reports of this from time to time, but we’ve never been able to consistently replicate this issue. Would love to see if we can get to the bottom of it.

Hi, since upgrading my product pages do not display properly.

I have them set to display in grid view, for which I purchased the gold cart plugin, but they keep appearing in list view.

If I am logged in to my WP Dashboard and then view a product page it displays correctly in a grid. As soon as I log out of the dashboard it reverts back to list view.

I got some people to log on in diferent parts of the country and send me screenshots and it’s the same for them.

you can see what I mean by looking here http://www.alanchunphotography.co.uk/prints/products-page/abstract/

I did put this on the community pages a few days ago but I have heard nothing back from anybody.

Cheers
Alan

Hi Alan,

Sorry to hear about that. Is this something that has been occurring with the 3.8.11.x release and did not occur before? If so, that’s a regression that we should sort out. If it occurred in 3.8.10 and prior, though, it’s a Gold Cart bug that should be sorted out through the Premium Support Forum.

As far as I am aware it only started to happen after ran the plugin update last week.

Hi
Can someone help me out since your last update my add to cart button has stopped working, I just get a spinning cursor and nothing is added to my cart, until you refresh the web page.
I have a previous issue where if you never checked out it still put the item in your purchase history.
Can someone help me as i have limited knowledge of HTML.
My web site is http://www.gosolarlights.com I have not submitted the site to the search engines yet as this is a show stopper for me.
Many thanks in advance
kind regards
Simon

The upgrade has completely changed my site at http://morelandprint.com/.

The slider is now a stack of images, and none of the drop-down links show up if you hover over any of the links in the top tray. It looks terrible and you can’t find half of the things people need on my site.

Any ideas on how to fix this one? I upgraded to the 3.8.11.1 and still nothing.

No sooner than I post this, I find an update to my theme. Problem solved!

I’m sick of this!
No help whatsoever! FFS! I paid $49 for this crap?
I will remove your non-working plugins and go with something else.
Just wish I hadn’t added all those products, what a waste of my time!

Hello
I have been using your soft for two years. I have a site working on it (here is the link http://gdemebelkupit.ru/ ). I paid 40$ to get the Gold Card. And now after the last update from version 3.8.10 to 3.8.11 a half of the site is broken.
Almost all plugins don’t work anymore. When I choose a variation the price doesn’t change.
The first plugins I noticed not to work are “Scroll top” (which I changed to “Scroll to top” and “Post tabs” (doesn’t work no matter what I do).
I want to know what the next update is coming which would fix everything I mentioned. And also – is there a way to return to the previous version? If there is – tell me how to do it. Unfortunately, I don’t have any backups.
Thank you.
Ilya.

Hello–

I’m noticing the same coupon code issue as GAskygirl above. The conditions no longer seem to work at all. Currently any active coupon will work on any and all items in my store, completely ignoring the conditions limited its application to specific products, item quantities, etc. Love your product, but this is a tough one, because we’re having coupons applied excessively and losing revenue. Glad to know it will be addressed soon!

Thank you.

Can you contact me re: your coupon issues. We are having difficulty re-creating the issue. Please drop me a note transom [at] 1bigidea [dot] com

I am also getting the spinning wheel when clicking “add to cart”… it just spins and spins with nothing ever being added to the cart.

Since the last updates the stock in our web-shop are no longer decreasing after purchase. I simply don’t know how to fix this any help would be most appreciated.
Thanks in advance

I saw that some fixes in 10 and 11 were related to WPML
Check out screenshots of WPML activated with WPEC here. Product Category screen does not display categories.
Coupon screen displays product count and no coupons
There is much much more. http://gasolicious.com/questions/wpml-wp-e-commerce-issues.html

WPEC has never worked for multi-lingual with WPEC, maybe you should stop claiming it does until you get it right

Hi I have ordered and paid for the audio player plug-in on your site, you have not sent me the files or an email to confirm purchase!! I have my paypal reciept.

I have tried requesting the files twice but no files and no reply!

No way to contact you!

How are you getting away with this service level?

I was wondering if someone could please help me fix the broken Google Merchant Feed? I just repurchased the Gold Cart for a second time. I posted for a question to premium support. That question was deleted! Now it says I can’t post messages at this time!

Can this please be resolved, or I guess I’ll stop using WP E-Commerce and request my money be returned.

Hello.
My page at herligverden.no has the problem of a spinning wheel when i try to add items to the chopping chart.

Hi there

Upgraded to the newer version a few days ago and noticed a drop in sales.
Didn’t think anything of it till a customer emailed me a copy of the checkout page.

At the bottom of the page where the ‘Proceed’ button goes, there’s nothing there or its so far to the right the it disappears and customers cannot proceed with their purchase.

Is there a way to fix this urgently

Urgent!!!
How to reverting the site to 3.8.10.?
Hope 3.8.12. will slove all fine.
Stop 3.8.11, honestly!

Perry

How the hell do you get prices to update based on variations picked… This is really annoying.. LOL

3.8.11.1 cart button is still not working for me…help my clients are freaking out!! How do I revert??

We have the same problem on http://www.eco-republic.co.uk, in that the ‘Add to Cart’ buttons do nothing. This used to work, but seems to have given up of its own accord not long after the site went live. Also the clear cart button doesn’t work, the only way to do that is to click the ‘x’ next to the product (not that we can get any products in the cart now!). Basically we have an ecommerce site that is nothing more than a catalogue.

Re add to cart not working, etc., on 3.8.11.1 – So anyone know how I fix it? What’s causing it? How do I revert to the earlier release (if that’s the only fix)? And when is the new release due out that will fix these problems?

We upgraded over the weekend and our entire product page links went down. I reverted to 3.8.8.5 and now the product pages are back, but all the icons and many of the pictures are gone. Can somebody please explain to me how to point in the correct place for the pictures to come back? The site is http://www.stemexpress.com. The pictures are ok on the home, about, and main product page; however, they are broken on the get involved, news, and sub product pages.

3.8.11.1 cart button is not working for me. What is the latest version that will support Gold Cart, and where is it please? This is a critical issue for many users!

No notification of a Gold Cart Update on my site – thought I was running the latest at 2.9.7.3

I upgraded to 3.8.11.1 and now my cart does not work. When adding items it just continuously says “updating cart”. Also, on the bottom right it just says “Shopping Cart Loading” It appears that the site is finished loading and still says this.
Please help,
The address is designerbuckets.com

I have the same problem. I click Add to Cart and it just spins. I’m using Mio theme and when I try updating that I get an error about a missing temp file. I’m having issues restoring from a backup so I’m dead in the water right now. I’ve been struggling with this for two days and really need some help!

Too many things not working properly in the 3.8.11.1 version.
How to download and go back to the 3.8.10.

I did’nt update my sites , but they were updated anyway and now the checkout won’t work on them. I am so pissed off right now

I’ve cleared all incomplete orders and I’m getting this message regarding limited stock: “xx of them are reserved for pending or recently completed orders.” I thought this was addressed in a previous version?

Hey i have a issue with the add_to_cart function like alot other users after clicking the button the load wheel stay there forever.
I need fix that in two sites.

Thanks for help.

Hi, i take another option to resolve the add_to_cart issue incluiding a header-cart with some lines of jquery i could make a minicart in the header page, this cart show the quantity and go to checkout link, is a simple but elegant solution to not depend of fancy notification, i hope the fancy notification will be fixed soon.

Here the pastebin of the code

I hope this will be helpfull to someone
